TLC Fabulous Cakes - Hawaiian Themed Wedding Cake

Finally, the TLC Fabulous Cakes show airs, and the cake is revealed!

Thank you's are in order for sure! There are so many behind the scenes and support from others that made that cake happen. It certainly was not the work of one person. It was a huge collaberative effort, and during taping, there were issues that we had to work through as a team. Of course, with 3 days of filming, you only saw a scattered 15 minutes. Yes, the TLC episode highlighted Jen Drury, local decorator and owner of No More Boring Cakes. Her major cake support crew was Ro Z's Sweet Art Studio - Ro Zinniger, Leah Bose and Jaimee Siron. Additionally, there were countless other supporters in this effort, whom we thank and are grateful to - Brook Castillo from BC Cakes and Ro's husband Terry and daughter Katie who ran the Ro Z's Sweet Art Studio shop while they filmed; Smokehouse BBQ owners and staff; Jen's wonderful husband, son and rockin mom (who washed and cleaned up after us)!; Jaimee's family; Leah's family; Fondarific for donating the fondant; the TLC crew for their encouraging words and support; and to the countless others who support all of us!

What we had to overcome as a team: Jen was getting over being sick and had lost her voice. We had to scratch a tier and re-do (the pineapple tier), however it looked better and was more structurally sound than the original plan. The rain that threatened the setup of the cake, and the owner's house only had a very small awning to cover the cake and the table the cake was set on was not the most stable. The time crunch.  Broken gumpaste flowers. The ups and downs of creating a cake like this will take more than one post, so check back for more!
